Seaton itself is situated on the mouth of the River Axe in Devon and is a lively little seaside town. There are shops, beautiful gardens, bowling, putting and tennis. The South West Coastal Path runs through the Undercliff Nature Reserve to Lyme Regis. Seaton has a sloping pebble beach, a pretty harbour and a peaceful promenade.
Seaton Tramway a perfect way to see the beautiful Axe Valley is to travel on one of the electric trams which will take you
between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton. You can eat at the Tramstop Restaurant at Colyton which is fully licensed and here you will also find the souvenir shop. The tramway is also popular with bird watchers and have many events during the year.
Pecorama, Beer situated on the hillside
above the picturesque fishing village of Beer, East Devon (on the
south-west coast of England), PECORAMA has something to offer every
member of the family. The attraction, having a railway theme, includes
a fascinating Indoor Exhibition of modelling in various popular scales,
whilst the Gardens are home to the famous Beer Heights Light Railway.
This 7¼-inch narrow gauge passenger-carrying line, powered by miniature steam and diesel locomotives, winds its mile-long way through tunnels, loops and cuttings giving wonderful views of Beer and Lyme Bay en route.
Beer Quarry Caves take a conducted tour and view the vast underground chambers with their vaulted ceilings and huge supporting pillars of natural stone. Lyme Regis and Charmouth for Fossils Collecting the coast around Lyme Regis and Charmouth is world famous for rocks that formed in the early Jurassic period, some 200 million years ago and the fossils that they contain. Fossils can be found here at any time of the year but storms make Lyme Regis and Charmouth an exciting destination in the autumn and winter for the simple reason that this is the time when the rough seas wash away the cliffs and scatter fresh fossils on the beaches.
